It’s that time again- back to school. School supplies lists, registration fees, new clothes, shoes and computer equipment, the lists are never ending! As you might know, preparing for the “back-to-school” season is hectic and expensive.
Thankfully, Serving Hands International has once again provided backpacks, shoes and school supplies to 29 Partners in Baja. Over 800 students received support from Serving Hands School Program. In addition to the backpacks and school supplies, Serving Hands received an unexpected in-kind donation of new shoes for children and teens.
Whispering Winds Catholic Camp in Julian, California who runs an annual Family Camp, asks their campers to donate a pair of new shoes for a worthy organization, such as Serving Hands International. Through their generosity, Serving Hands Partners received over 90 pairs of new shoes!
The shoe donations were received just in time for the many students returning to school.
“The shoes were the icing on the cake!” said Claudia Ramos, Program Director for Serving Hands Partner – Friends of the Poor. “The shoe donation especially impacted Juan Garcia, who couldn’t believe the shoes were free – a gift from a stranger in the US.” “Juan couldn’t believe the shoe fit and there was no cost to him, Juan shed alittle tear of joy.” Said Claudia.
It is because of people like you that we are able to continue the support to our Partners and their community.
Whatever journey we walk, it’s always easier with new pair of shoes!
Thank you!
Serving Hands International was able to provide these essentials to over 240,000 people during our 2015 operational year, within the countries of Mexico, India, Ghana, Tanzania, Peru, Philippines, and South Africa.
Thanks in great part to A-1 Self Storage and generous donors like you.
