Education for many of the people we serve is the primary lifeline for a brighter future. Our efforts focus on schools that are run by non-government organizations (NGOs) or other charities. The school partners we work with serve students who cannot afford to pay tuition but have a personal and parental commitment to excellent education. We have found the most effective ways for improving the education services and opportunities is to work with the following strategies:
TUITION ASSISTANCE
Tuition assistance is given in the form of scholarships to families that can’t afford tuition and direct school funding for schools that serve the poor by not charging tuition.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
School supplies are distributed annually to over 5,000 children. These supplies include new leather shoes which are needed to attend school. New backpacks and other school supplies to better equip a child in their education.
CLASSROOM BUILDINGS – Classroom Donation Program
Serving Hands has brought more than 100 portable classrooms from the United States to Mexico. These classrooms are 24’x40’ (960 square feet) and can serve 40 students or more. We make sure that the classrooms are in good working condition and can fill a specific need for a partner organization. The classrooms are used for school facilities, clinics, community centers, churches, and orphanage dormitories.
Through the generosity of donors in the U.S.A. we receive the classrooms at no cost and pay for the transportation and importation of the portable classrooms directly to the site where people receive services. The classrooms are used for school facilities, clinics, community centers, churches, and orphanage dormitories.
